Izip e3 dash review3/1/2023 ![]() My 2015 IZIP E3 Dash (same battery as the 2016 model) originally had a ~40 mile range (47 miles stated on the display). You can easily double your cycle life by charging to 80% charge state each cycle, and only charging to 100% right before your ride. Like all lithium-ion batteries, IZIP batteries will degrade pretty quickly when you store them at 100% charge all the time. Have fun out there!ĭon't charge the battery to 100% unless you're going on a ride right after you charge it. This might be peculiar to my bike though. I do pedal & assist the motor, but I find I get finer control with the throttle. Personally, I rarely use pedal assist (and almost only the tightest gear). So, just keep a closer eye on those things. the bike will still go, and you won't notice the drag as much. If the tire pressure is low, a brake is dragging. If there is something mechanically awry with your bike, you might not notice it if you rely on the throttle a lot (like I do). With a traditional bike, you tend to accelerate more slowly, and decelerate more slowly. It's easy to come up to speed, and then have to brake. I figure this is better than having it plugged-in all the time, and for times when I'm away from home for a period.Įxpect to go through brakes more quickly. I put my charger on a light timer, so it only charges for a few hours at night. Assuming you haven't owned an ebike before, a few generic things I've learned. I don't have your model, but was in your shoes over a year ago. ![]() The motor failed twice and ate up a significant portion of the warranty. The 2017 model, already out when 8 made this purchase, addressed these issues by eliminating torque sensing and restricting boost button use to above 5mph. The 2016 Dash had multiple issues that caused motors to fail, mainly inadequate torque sensing and a boost button that allowed riders to zoom to 20 mph from a stop, causing severe stress to the junk TranzX motor. It's got me confused.Īny help would be hugely, hugely appreciated.ĮDIT - 10/2018 - iZip belongs on the DO NOT BUY list. A lot of sort of mixed messages in the info out there, some say it's torque based, cadence, others claim a nondescript mix between cadence and torque. I couldn't find any real detail as to whether it's strictly a cadence based assist or how the motor kicking in is determined. I'm hoping I can find other owners of this model (the 2016 mid drive Dash, not the hub 2015) who can maybe give me some tips they wish they had known when they first got their Dash.Īlso if anyone can explain the difference of the Currie technology to me, that would be great. As a first time ebike owner having a local bike shop as an authorized dealer for maintenance and whatnot seemed like a good move and the bike seems solid and capable. iZip E3 Dash 48V 17.After a lot of research into different kits and bikes I decided to go with the 2016 E3 Dash for $1,899.eDaiquiri Battery Cell Replacement Service.R Martin E-Bike Battery Cell Replacement Service.Lithium Cycles Super 73 Battery Cell Replacement.Plastic Case Holders Vs Glued 18650 cells. ![]() Organic Transit Elf Battery Cell Replacement.Biktrix Battery Cell Replacement Service.Pesu Electric Bike Battery Rebuild Service. ![]() The indicator on the stock display and the estimated range won't function any more. While the middle two wires aren't connected, we've successfully installed new throttles with battery level indicators so you'll know how much power you have left. This kit could also fit on other bikes that utilize the Currie downtube battery pack, such as the Diamondback Trace EXC, Overdrive or other models. This has worked best for models with hub motors. Then splice the red and black wires together and connect it to our battery! There is no need to connect non-power wires to our battery. You just have to disconnect the original battery and the mounting bracket, exposing the wires leading down into the frame of the bike. Now, with some basic soldering, we've found we can offer one of our own 48V 17.5Ah Sea Lion batteries or Shark 2 Batteryas a compatible replacement! This effectively doubles the capacity of the original. Do you want to double your range on your iZip E3 Dash, E3 Peak, or E3 Sumo e-bike? Previously, if you wanted an upgrade, we could only rebuild it to 48V 10.5Ah (improving it from 8.7Ah) due to the size of the case. ![]()
